Recursion’s product is an AI-driven drug discovery and development platform called the Recursion OS. It is designed for use by the company itself and its strategic partners to accelerate the discovery of new medicines. The platform’s core capability is using artificial intelligence trained on images of cells to understand the biological disruptions that cause disease. This approach aims to address the high failure rate of traditional drug discovery. The Recursion OS has generated an advanced pipeline of potential treatments, described as first-in-class and best-in-class, for conditions with high unmet need, including aggressive cancers and rare diseases. Key capabilities demonstrated by the platform include improvements in speed, efficiency, and reduced costs from the hit identification stage through to IND-enabling studies, when compared to traditional pharmaceutical company averages. The resulting pipeline covers therapeutic areas such as oncology, with indications including advanced solid tumors, lymphomas, and B-cell malignancies, as well as rare diseases like familial adenomatous polyposis and hypophosphatasia.
