Scout Engine — AI Provider Research & Scoring System
How the Scout Engine works: an AI-powered system that researches every provider on ProviderScout, scores trust and authority, and powers the Scout chatbot.
Scout Engine
Scout Engine is the AI research and scoring system that powers every listing on ProviderScout.
What it does
Scout Engine performs three jobs for every provider in the directory:
1. Discovers — finds candidate providers in each category using AI research. 2. Profiles — collects publicly available information (description, features, target customers, use cases, links) and assembles a structured profile. 3. Scores — computes the four Scout Score sub-scores (Domain Authority, Trust & Quality, Presence & Reach, Profile Completeness) and blends them into a single Scout Score.
Crawl depth
Scout Engine supports three analysis levels:
- Surface — fast, lightweight pass. Used for free Listed entries.
- Standard — balanced analysis with deeper trust signals. Used for Verified providers.
- Deep — comprehensive crawl with continuous re-scoring. Used for Premier providers.
Deeper analysis produces more precise Scout Scores and richer profile content.
Editorial oversight
Scout Engine output is reviewed by ProviderScout editors before any provider is published. We never auto-publish AI output without review. Vendors can also claim their listing and submit corrections at any time.
Privacy
Scout Engine only uses publicly available information — no scraped private data, no purchased contact lists. If a vendor wants their listing removed or corrected, our team handles it manually.
