Unscreen was a video processing service that officially shut down on December 1, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. Central European Time. The product was designed for users who needed to remove backgrounds from video footage. Its key capability was background removal, and it also offered plugins for Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro, though these have been removed from app stores and are no longer functional. The service automatically deleted all uploaded videos 30 days after processing, and users could contact support to download a video processed within that 30-day window. All user subscriptions were cancelled, with each remaining usable until its individual expiry date; any unused minutes or credits expired with the subscription. User data was scheduled to be deleted or anonymized after the service ended. Following the shutdown, the company recommended Canva’s video editor as an alternative, noting that it supports background removal and includes additional features such as text-to-video, auto animations, voice enhancement, and smart format switching. The product was intended for creators seeking a streamlined video editing tool, though it is no longer operational.
